Garden Gnome Reading Corner

After a hard day's work gnomes love to relax a bit in a comfortable reading chair. This one is made of 7 corks and a slice of birch of app. 6 cm. I used waterproof glue so rain is no problem (except for the relaxing gnomes maybe...)

The magazines are made of the water-repellent waxed paper of an used popcorn packaging. And the magazine rack is made of two walnut shells glued together.
(Place the magazine rack in a windless spot)

And last but not least...the coffee table. Any self-respecting gnome needs a decent coffee table and this lovely pebble model with a cork base is the latest trend. A pretty heavy model that does not blow away easily, ideal for the outdoors.

This little project is easy to make (I use a small iron saw for the corks) and so much fun for children. And let's not forget the gratitude of the gnomes of course!

Garden Gnome Homes

When you are creating fairy houses and gnome homes every little piece of wood, moss or stone becomes a potential piece of furniture. Things will never be the same again.

Every morning when I look out of my kitchen window I see these little fairyland scenes. They make me feel happy...

.... very happy!

Gnome Homes

The past days we had so much fun creating these gnome homes!
I wanted to hide them in our garden but our son loved them rightaway and now we have gnome houses next to the fairy gardens in our livingroom.

To create the houses we used birch branches in different sizes and combined them with Ourico Pods. (These are the pods that contain Brazil Nuts). The chimneys were made from pieces of wood and snail shells and fixed with beeswax. The flower containers are also made from snail shells and can be filled with water. Oh, once you get started....

You can also use small terracotta flowerpots or baskets to create roofs.
There are endless possibilities, but for the gnomes it is only important that their homes are made with loving care.

The Gnomes go Sailing; DIY - Cork Boats

Required Materials;

- Corks
- Coctail sticks or toothpicks
- Felt or paper
- Scissors
(- Optional pegdolls and glue)

1 - Cut a cocktail stick in half.
Push one or two halves into the side of a cork.
2 - Attach another cork to it by pushing it into the cocktail sticks.
(It helps when you pierce the corks first)
3 - Make a small hole with the top of the scissors and attach the mast
(= a twig or stick with a square piece of felt, paper or leaf)
4- Optional; glue a small pegdoll on the boat.

Fill a (bath-tub with water and enjoy your gnome cork boats this weekend!

Little Helper

I love to create these small scenes around our house. A gathering of gnomes, a fairy garden or a sleeping elf. And since today there is a gnome watering our plants. My son is always thrilled when he discovers a new one...and so am I.
