About me

Once upon a time in Holland there was a sickly little girl called Saskia.
She had dark brown eyes and dark brown hair and was quite large for a little girl,
with long thin arms and very big feet.
She was extremely creative and loved to play alone in the garden for hours where she had many insect friends and lovely bird and mouse companions. And when she was sad she could feel the presence of earthly spirits...she was connected and happy..... life was colourful...
But then one day it was time for her to go to school....

The other children were loud and rough and didn't like insects and mice... and didn't like her very much either because she was so desperately trying to fit in
(which wasn't easy because of her very big feet)......
The little girl went to school from the age of 4 until she was 19 years old and by that time she had turned into a young women who was disconnected from nature and its spirits.

But there was no time to think about that, there was a commercial job waiting and she worked for years wondering at night why she was so unhappy even though she had done everything just like society had planned for her.... life had become colourless.
Then one day at the age of 35 she met an unusual composer who was very large and had with very big feet.... they could talk for hours and when he lovingly looked at her
she felt like that little girl again..
.. and suddenly she remembered who she was...
.. and slowly she began remembering the magical world...
.. her daily colours...

Now the little girl is 44 years old and has two extraordinary children,
a boy and a girl and she lives happily with her lovely unusual composer
in a very cosy small house in the East of Holland.
She has quit her job and loves to work in her garden enjoying the insects, birds,
mice and all kinds of new visitors and is bursting of creativity again....
She and her family like to read books about flower fairies,
goblins and other magical creatures.
And at night they curl up on the couch with books by John Bauer and Brian Froud and are captivated and inspired by their magical worlds.

She is connecting again..... slowly... with the help of her loving family... and with the help of the beautiful magical world of Mother Nature who is lovingly, patiently waiting for all of us.....

..... The Beginning ......

  4. Beautiful blog. So glad your inner child gets to breathe again. What is life without. Magic? Thanks for sharing all of the cool and crafty ideas. My youngest child (and the only one remaining at home) is a 13 year old boy who isn't really into my newfound fairy love but I'm having a grand time by myself. :)
